Chief Secretary Carrie Lam today visited the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department’s crop experimental farm in Sheung Shui, as the Government seeks public views on a new agricultural development policy.
Mrs Lam toured Tai Lung Experimental Station’s controlled-environment greenhouses, a mushroom shed and the organic demonstration farm.
She expressed her appreciation for the products, including hydroponic baby leaf and other organic farming products and praised staff for their strenuous efforts in promoting local agricultural products and raising agricultural productivity.
The station is the only crop experimental farm operated by the Government in Hong Kong. The department supports local agriculture by conducting studies to search for production methods and try out crop varieties that suit the local environment.
