Kuomintang presidential candidate Eric Chu embarked on a visit to Yunlin County to seek supports amongst the local youth and farming populace, including former Yunlin County commissioner Chang Jung-wei, reports said Sunday.
This was Chu’s first campaign tour to Taiwan’s central county since he took over from Deputy Speaker Hung Hsiu-chu as presidential candidate earlier this month.
He is also expected to render visit to Yunlin’s second electoral district in Douliu, where he will be voicing his support for KMT’s local legislative candidate Wu Wei-chi as the latter proposes his political campaign policies.
Later in the day, the presidential candidate will pass by Siluo Township to participate in a farmers’ gathering to learn about the area’s burgeoning organic farming.
“A lot of the organic vegetables found in elementary school meals in New Taipei are supplied by farms in Siluo,” Chu told reporters prior to his departure Sunday.
Chu will cap his weekend tour by joining KMT legislative candidate Chung Rong-chi from Yunlin’s first electoral district in campus events where the two will be campaigning for youth supports across YunTech University, National Formosa University, and TransWorld University.
