In spite of the ongoing corona pandemic and related problems the 6th Organic Lifestyle EXPO held from 16th to 19th September 2021 was a success with more exhibitors than last year.
Outline of the event
The 6th Organic Lifestyle EXPO and the 2nd SDGs Lifestyle Forum 2021 was again held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsuchokan (2F to 5F) in Hamamatsucho, Tokyo.
Continuing from last year, the event was held under the influence of the spread of the new corona infections, but with good hygiene and safety concepts and thoroughly implementing infection control measures, more exhibitors and visitors than last year have gathered this year, and it was full of highlights and activities. It was also a place where various business matchings were conducted. As before OLE was accompanied by a good seminar program with many topics. Because of COVID-19 most presentations were virtual without the presence of speakers and therefore had less visitors.
The Organic Lifestyle EXPO is one of the largest events in Japan where consumers who are highly interested in natural and organic lifestyles can see, learn, and buy new products.

OUTLOOK
The continued growth of OLE will depend on the following factors:
◆ Whether and when COVID-19 will be under control.
Until now Japan has much fewer COVID cases than many other countries. Most people observe the recommended caution and protection measures and are willing to get vaccinated. The number of people opposing vaccinations is small compared to Western countries. Daily life is almost like normal, but many people worry about the future.
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic
◆ How the world will handle the climate crisis and related environmental problems.
◆ Development and more use of clean energies as alternatives for oil, gas and coal.
◆ Trends in the trade fair industries.
If solutions for the above problems can be found, the future of events like OLE looks good because the interest and demand for natural and organic products is continuously growing worldwide.
Specific challenges for OLE are:
◆ Repeat and new domestic exhibitors.
◆ More foreign exhibitors, buyers and visitors.
◆ More domestic exhibitors, buyers and visitors.
◆ More business transactions and orders on-site.
◆ Good relations with domestic and international media and journalists.
With these goals and objectives in mind OLE can become a major domestic and internationally recognized trade fair for natural and organic products. Japan as a major industrial country with a big market will support these goals.
